Who we are
The Fit Economy is a strength coaching business based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, serving clients in person and online. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number when you book a consultation, apply or create a client portal account.
- Health and fitness information: goals, training history, injuries, body measurements, weight, food logs, meal photos and progress check-ins that you choose to share so we can coach you safely.
- Messages: what you send your coach through the client portal.
- Reviews: the name, rating, text and photos you submit in a review. Approved reviews are public.
- Payment records: invoice amounts and payment status. Invoices are paid by Interac e-transfer through your own bank; we never see your banking details.
- Basic technical data: such as IP address, used to keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
How we use it
Only to provide and improve your coaching: building your program and diet chart, tracking progress, replying to your messages, sending invoices and notifications, and keeping the site secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site. They process data only on our behalf:
- Netlify: website hosting, accounts and database.
- Resend: sending notification emails.
- Anthropic: AI features such as meal photo estimates, the site assistant and review screening. Content is sent only when you use these features.
Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you are a client and for a reasonable period afterwards for records and tax purposes. You can ask us to delete it at any time, unless we are legally required to keep it.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw consent to us using it, by emailing us. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), client areas need a sign-in, and access is limited to your coach.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top of this page.
